she had a heart that said otherwise.

September 15, 2010

Allow me to introduce you to our family’s newest little miracle.  Although he doesn’t belong to me necessarily, he definitely holds a special part of my heart.  Because he is a fighter.  Because he is my cousin/nephew.  Because I’m a new mother who can smell a new baby from miles away.  Because he’s probably the most adorable newborn baby ever born (besides my own of course).

This little critter beat all the odds and surprised us all.  He has a big God in his corner who planned his conception and his birth and will use him for His glory all the days of his life.  It was about nine months ago I sat across the table from his mom and we both shared tears concerning our fears for our little beans who were so early in their formation.  She had seen doctors who had told her she wouldn’t ever see this day.  She had a heart that told her otherwise.  And today her little man, born 3 weeks to the day from my little man, sleeps in the same hospital as her.  And he breathes the same oxygen she does.  And some day very soon he’ll sleep down the hall of the same home as she does.

So welcome little Anderson.  You are beautiful and perfect.  And I have this little guy here with me that I can’t wait for you to meet.

Oh and happy birthday momma.  Enjoy your little man and get some rest.  For the rest of your life you’ll have trouble sleeping because you won’t want to miss a second of his life.  It’s the greatest insomnia ever to be afflicted with. Ever.

Judah and Anderson are lucky to have good mothers like you and Alisha.

To me: Having a child is more like committing a crime, you are sentenced to 18-25 years of hard labor. Having a child is like being stuck in the mud you try and try to get out and when you are at the edge of getting out you relize that you are already dirty and you will miss the mud. Having a child is like having a farm you weed and fertilize knowing that you cannot really eat from the crop.

I know that seems all negative. But I would not do anything different. I loved every minute of it.

Jeff, sorry we didn’t get to spend more time together when you and the wifey were in town. You know how those little ones like to dictate the schedule. And he soooo hates it when I sit down to eat. He thinks that means he should get to eat too. Pffff…..he’s so needy 🙂

Can’t wait for you to meet them too! They are both pretty exceptional if I do say so myself.

    Laura-
Anderson is so blessed to have a cousin/aunt like you!
We have felt your prayers through the whole pregnancy and now as he is in the NICU.
This has been such an interesting road that has had God’s fingerprints all over it… It is amazing to just be a part of it!!
We love you guys and cannot wait to see our boys grow up/cause mischief together.
