obama was right.

July 12, 2009

We can do it!  In fact, I’m living breathing proof that people can succeed despite their over obvious flaws and personality disorders.  We can overcome our tendencies to fail in the eyes of society based upon our over abrasive tone of voice and brutally honest likelihood to correct your grammatical errors.YES WE CAN!

As if most of you who read this don’t know…I have achieved my short term goal of NOT being employed under the title “assistant” and will henceforth (for the foreseeable future) be called “marketing coordinator”.  HUZZAH!  Although my excitement is stemming more from the fact that I have found myself back in the credit union industry.  I’m not sure how many of you caught it before I deleted it, but it wasn’t long ago that I posted here about my desire to someday again work for an organization that allowed me to feel as fulfilled as I did in my days at the credit union I was previously employed at before moving to St. Charles last year.  I am proud to say that I am again employed with a local credit union, and I would have taken the job if my title would have been “assistant to the assistant who assists the janitors assistant”.  The work I will be doing  will be educating my community on financial literacy and ways in which they can make their financial dreams a reality.  I’m so jazzed it’s kind of hard to explain.  Just don’t be surprised if I take the time to give you my credit union sermon some day.  Seriously.  I’m only here to help.

Also, we are moving in the middle of next week.  This has especially become good news for us as our newest upstairs neighbors have brought with them an evil beast of an animal that is such a wimp when his owners are gone that he howls for the entire length of time they are gone.  When I know they aren’t home, and the dog starts in on his daily howling regime, I begin throwing a tennis ball against the ceiling.  Sydney loves it.  Last night, however, I reached the end of my patience and Syd had been soaking her tennis ball in her water bowl thus leaving me with few options outside of a friendly, neighborly note taped to their front door to greet them upon their return home:

Dear Neighbor,

First let me start by giving you a hearty welcome to the neighborhood.  I hope that you have found that the facilities here at Sandalwood Creek live up to your expectations.  Second, you should know that your dog seems to suffer from a severe case of seperation anxiety and tends to express this through loud howling and near constant barking for the entirety of your absense.  Please allow me to assist you with this problem as you may not be familiar with the neighborhood.  There is a Petco conveniently located directly down the street, and they DO offer a lovely selection of muzzles for you to choose from.  Also, as a like-minded community we all believe strongly in the humane use of euthanasia and I’m confident we will be able to recommend a qualified veterinarian upon your request.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help make your residence here a happy one.

Sincerely,
All of your new neighbors within earshot.

Yes…I can be passive aggressive.  But I swear on my husbands life that I haven’t heard that dog bark all day.  It’s obviously been effective.

Did you really tape that to their door? I’m proud of you, like a mother lion.

yes…yes I did. they deserved it. of course when we heard them come home, chris and I laid really quietly in bed hoping to either hear them laugh or get steaming mad. but they were completely silent. it was kind of sad. all that work and i got no reaction at all.

    You’re a total fool! I love it.

And FYI, I would have respected your decision if you had become the “assistant to the assistant who assists the janitors assistant” if it made you happy, because hey, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet”…basically, I’m going to miss your smell…

First, I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS on the new job!

Second, I want to commend you on your amazing passive aggressive letter to your neighbors. You are MUCH more polite than my boyfriend and I were to the annoying neighbors we had in our apartment building. Let’s just say our notes included some not-so-nice words in them. And we certainly wanted to tell them to go somewhere, but it wasn’t the local Petco. lol

Third, I’m excited for you that you get to move… I understand how amazing that feels. I’m still pumped about the fact that we are no longer living in that apartment and we moved out almost 5 months ago! I believe we are still planning on a drive-by egging of our old neighbors’ cars, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet. lol
